You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here - carquotes.sinfree.net That was my first car! It's an underrated car. The space in the trunk is great, the engine's terrific. Certainly a good buy. However it did start to rust, so check for rust, check window cranks, check what's been replaced in the engine and when. All over a brilliant car, and I miss it :-( its a golf with a boot ..good car .yes Auto parts : Distributor Housing Gskt Acura 1995 . Distributor Locating Pin Alfa Romeo 1996 . I just had the battery, oil, and air filter all changed 4 days ago. But when I went to start it a day later, it wouldn't start. When I turned the key the engine turns over but immediately dies. And when I do get it started it has a little trouble driving. I'll put my foot on the gas pedal and give it some gas but it has a hard time picking up and the engine revs up and down. What is wrong? I have a 1999 GMC Yukon 5.7L V8, just recently, after coming to a stop at a red light, I began to accelerate and a sudden loud whine came from the transmission, it still drove and I was able to pull off to the side of the road, but after placing it in park, it kept rolling, so I put the E-brake on so it wouldnt roll any further. After sitting for a min, I put the truck in drive and the loud whine came back, and the speedometer jumped to about 15mph, but the vehicle wasnt rolling, and anytime I shifted through the gears, the loud whine continued. Prior to this, the truck ran smooth, the transmission shifted perfectly, there was no high rpms at all, and there didnt seem to be any signs that either the torque converter or transmission was going bad. It has 198,000 miles on it, and its maintained very well with the engine in great shape. Anyone have any ideas as to what this problem may be? Or should I go ahead and plan on a Torque Converter or a new transmission? car insurance. Auto parts : Door Sill Protector Scion 1999. Door Storage Rack Smart 2000. Door Strap Sterling 2001. Daewoo . How to Remove a Ford Probe MotorBefore removing a Ford Probe motor, you need to remove all the fluids. If you plan to reuse the antifreeze, you should have a clean drain pan that has not been used for oil. Because the myriad of wires and hoses can be confusing when you put the engine back in, be sure to label everything so you won't have a problem reinstalling the engine. Most bolts have specific torque specifications, and many are different sizes. If you are not familiar with which bolts go where, store them in labeled containers or zipper bags. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Drain pans Set of wrenches Set of sockets Lug wrench Screwdriver Floor jack Jack stands Line wrench Wire coat hanger or other suitable piece of wire Engine lifting chain Engine hoist Pry bar Step by Step : 1 Locate the relay box near the driver's side fender well. Remove the fuel pump relay (the diagram on the inside of the cover tells you which one). Start the Probe and let it idle until it runs out of fuel. It may not even start. If it does not, just crank it over several times to relieve the fuel pressure. 2 Disconnect the negative battery cable. Disconnect the positive battery cable. Remove the battery and battery tray. Matchmark (i.e., mark the parts, to serve as an aid in reassembly) the hood bolts and the hood. Remove the hood using an appropriate socket. 3 Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels. Jack up the front of the Probe with a floor jack, and then support it on jack stands. Remove the front wheels. Remove the engine splash shields with the appropriate sockets. Slide a drain pan under the radiator petcock. Loosen the petcock and allow the antifreeze mixture to drain. Slide a drain pan under the oil pan. Loosen the oil pan bolt and allow the engine oil to drain. Slide a drain pan under the transmission pan. Loosen the bolts on the transmission pan. Slowly lower the transmission pan and let it drain into the drain pan. Dispose of all liquids in an appropriate manner. 4 Remove the air cleaner assembly, air flow meter, resonance chamber and air ducts using appropriate sockets and a screwdriver. Remove the oil dipstick. Loosen the clamps on the radiator hoses with a screwdriver and pull the hoses off. Disconnect the oil cooler lines from the radiator with an appropriate line wrench. 5 Disconnect the cooling fan and radiator switch electrical connectors. Remove the radiator and cooling fan as an assembly. Disconnect the throttle and speedometer cables. Label all of the vacuum lines and wiring harness connectors. Disconnect the fuel supply, return hoses and heater hoses using an appropriate line wrench or screwdriver. 6 Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the manifold using an appropriate socket. Loosen the accessory drive belt tensioner. Lift the drive belt off the pulleys. Unbolt the power steering pump but do not remove the hoses. Remove the power steering pump from the engine and hang it from the body with a coat hanger or wire. 7 Unbolt and remove the air conditioning compressor but do not remove the lines. Hang it from the body with a coat hanger or wire. Disconnect the shift control cable. Remove the nuts that connect the tie rods to the steering knuckles. Disconnect the tie rods at the steering knuckles. Disconnect the stabilizer bar from the lower control arms using appropriate sockets. 8 Attach the engine lifting chain to the eye bolts on the engine. Attach a chain to an engine hoist and lift the engine until there is tension on the chain. Remove the engine mount nuts and bolts. Remove the engine mount. 9 Remove the bolts from the steering knuckle. Pry the control arm down and slip the lower ball joint out of the knuckle. Remove the bolts from the right intermediate shaft support. Pry the intermediate shaft from the transmission with a pry bar. Insert the pry bar between the inner CV joint and the transmission case. Pry the inner CV joint out of the engine. Hold the halfshafts up with wire. Step by Step : 10 Remove the damper from the right engine mount. Remove the engine and transmission mounting bolts, and the right and left transmission mounts. Using the hoist, lift the engine and transmission assembly out of the Probe, watching carefully to make sure you didn't miss one of the wiring connectors or vacuum hoses. *sources: V* AAA- and CAA-approved repair facilities: Both the American Automobile Association (AAA) and the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) have rating programs for auto repair. These organizations visit and evaluate shops to make sure that they meet high standards for reliable service at a fair price and willingness to resolve complaints. To qualify, shops must provide customers with written estimates of all costs and offer a minimum warranty on parts and labor of 180 days or 6,000 miles. Any history of customer complaints about the shop is taken into account in the evaluation. Because this program operates on a cost-recovery basis, a shop can't "buy" Association approval. They also don't impose price limitations on approved shops. The program covers the full spectrum, from low-cost to high-priced repair facilities. Both the AAA and the CAA are willing to arbitrate disputes between members and approved shops, in most cases, if negotiations between the shop and the member aren't successful. The exceptions to this are the following: • They won't get involved simply because you've found that you could have had the job done elsewhere for less. • They won't decide whether a specific job is covered by a manufacturer's warranty. 979
